Colby Ray Covington (born February 22, 1988) is an American former professional mixed martial artist . He formerly competed in the Welterweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is a former Interim UFC Welterweight Champion . Covington was born in Clovis, California , on February 22, 1988. The family moved from California to Oregon when he was eight years old. His father was a wrestler during his time at the Oregon Institute of Technology and Southern Oregon University .
